10.9% voter turnout in Nenggiri in first hour

GUA MUSANG: A voter turnout of 10.9% was recorded in the first hour of polling at the Nenggiri by-election today, the Election Commission said.

The EC is expecting a voter turnout of about 60% when polling ends.

Twenty polling centres, with 48 polling channels, opened at 8am and will close progressively between 2pm and 6pm, Bernama reported.

A total of 20,216 ordinary voters and 43 postal voters are eligible to cast their ballots.

PN candidate Rizwadi Ismail and his wife, Che Mariam Che Noh, casting their votes, also at the Tabika Sri Bakawali polling centre.

Barisan Nasional candidate Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, 38, and his wife, Nur Khamila Mohd Zin, 38, cast their votes at about 8.30am at the polling centre at Tabika Sri Bakawali in Bertama Lama here, followed by Perikatan Nasional candidate Rizwadi Ismail, 41, with his wife, Che Mariam Che Noh, 41, about 10 minutes later.

The official vote-tallying will be held at the Dewan Perdana of the Perdana Complex here and the official results are expected to be announced by returning officer Nik Raisnan Daud at 9pm at the earliest.
