PETALING JAYA: The prisons department has completed filing all 1,020 applications for a review by the Federal Court of death sentences and imprisonment for natural life, deputy law and institutional reform minister Ramkarpal Singh said today.
Details of the review process had been posted online for public reference, he said, according to Bernama.
He said lawyers appointed to represent detainees at the review process would be provided with basic trial documents such as charge sheets, court orders and reasons for judgment from prior trials and appeals.
So far 23 review applications had been heard and decided upon by the Federal Court, he said. The cases comprised 15 death sentence reviews and eight life imprisonment reviews.
