2024 Toyota Hilux in Malaysia up to RM4,200 more expensive; 360 cam, Qi charger now on upper variants
In other markets, the Toyota Hilux has been the recipient of some worthwhile upgrades, such as a GR Sport Wide Tread variant and a facelift that introduces a 48-volt mild hybrid system, but those have yet to arrive in Malaysia. Instead, we get a less desirable update to the price, which has risen by up to RM4,200.
Compared to last year, the base single cab 2.4 MT model (still based on the original eighth-generation Hilux, by the way) is now RM1,000 more expensive at RM104,880, while the double cab 2.4V AT is RM3,700 dearer at RM145,880.
The range-topping models see the biggest increases – the 2.8 Rogue AT and 2.8 GR Sport AT are now RM163,080 and RM173,280 respectively, RM4,200 more expensive than before. The mid-range double cab 2.4E variants remain the same price, however, retailing at RM117,880 for the manual version and RM119,880 for the automatic.
Some of the increases have been offset by the standard fitment of a 360-degree camera system on the 2.4V, 2.8 Rogue and 2.8 GR Sport and a Qi wireless charger on the Rogue and GR Sport. These items are optional on the other double cab variants – RM6,590 for the 360-degree camera (bundled with the nine-inch touchscreen DVD-AVX head unit) and RM490 for the wireless charger.
No other changes have been made to the Hilux, which continues to be powered by 150 PS/400 Nm 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV and 204 PS/500 Nm 1GD-FTV four-cylinder turbodiesels; the GR Sport’s 1GD-FTV got bumped up to 224 PS and 550 Nm of torque last year. You also get a choice of six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes and standard four-wheel drive.
