Entering the litre-class naked sports motorcycle market in Europe is the 2025 Honda Hornet CB1000. Not only that, Honda has seen fit to release the Hornet CB1000 SP with upgraded suspension and brakes as well.

As Honda’s flagship naked sports bike, the CB1000 joins the Hornet CB750 and the Hornet CB500 in the catalogue. Colour choices for the Hornet CB1000 are Grand Prix Red, Mat Iridium Gray Metallic and Pearl Glare White while the Hornet CB1000 SP comes in only one colour, Mat Ballistic Black Metallic with gold-anodised fork legs and unique ‘desert gold’ metallic wheels.

The Hornet CB1000 carries the inline-four cylinder taken from the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade superbike (priced at RM208,000 in Malaysia). Power is detuned from the Fireblade’s 214 hp to 150.1 heat 11,000 rpm with 104 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm.

The frame for the Hornet CB1000 is brand new and features twin spars for a high degree of torsional rigidity. The big Hornet also features aggressive styling with compact twin LED projector headlights and broad Hornet fuel tank.

This gives the CB1000 a brand shouldered profile when viewed from the front along with a narrow waist before tapering to the rear trellis-style sub-frame. Honda says the Hornet CB1000 comes with “multiple riding modes” including Rain, Standard, Sport and two user customisable modes.

Diffrentiating the Hornet CB1000 and the CB1000 SP version is suspension, the standard Hornet getting Showa’s ‘big piston’ SFF-BP upside down forks while the SP adds an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock. Similarly, the base model CB1000 gets Nissin brake callipers in front and the upgraded SP model comes with Brembo Stylema callipers.
