PETALING JAYA: Five staff members of a government health clinic in Sabah have been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly submitting RM146,000 in false overtime claims.

The Borneo Post quoted a source as saying that the suspects were an assistant medical officer and four nurses. They were reportedly arrested at 9.40am today at the Sabah MACC headquarters.

“Preliminary investigations found that the four women and one man, all in their 30s, are believed to have submitted false claims for overtime work from 2020 to 2021.”

Sabah MACC director S Karunanithy reportedly confirmed the arrests, saying the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He added that the suspects had been released on bail and would be charged in the Kota Kinabalu sessions court on Thursday.
