Acer Gadget Announces FreeSense Ring and AI TransBuds

Acer, under its Acer Gadget sub-brand, has introduced two new wearables ahead of Computex 2025; both of which are technically the firsts of their kind from the company. The devices in question include the Acer FreeSense Ring, and the Acer AI TransBuds.

The Acer FreeSense Ring is designed for everyday health monitoring and is crafted from ultra-lightweight titanium alloy. The ring measures 2.6mm thick and weighs between 2g to 3g depending on size. There are two colour options for the ring, which are Rose Gold with a matte finish, and Black with a gloss finish. The wearable comes in sizes 7 to 13 and is rated 5 ATM and IP68 for dust and water resistance.

The ring tracks vital physiological metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. A companion mobile app analyses the data points and generates personalised wellness insights and provides suggestions. According to Acer, all the user’s health data is accessible without additional subscription fees, although the company has yet to disclose details on the ring’s pricing and availability.

Next, we have the Acer AI TransBuds, which as the name suggests, are earbuds with translation capabilities. The lightweight earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and have a transmission distance of 10m. To activate the real-time, two-way voice translation feature, the device must be connected to a smartphone or tablet using a plug-in receiver. The translation is powered by AI-based speech recognition and semantic analysis, with support for 15 major languages spoken across Asia, the Americas, and Europe.

Acer notes that only one person needs to wear the earbuds for the translation feature to work. Additionally, there is support for live captioning and transcription, allowing users to easily follow the conversations in real time as well as review them later. Currently, there is no word on the device’s pricing or availability.
