Apple May Make Bezel-Less 20th Anniversary iPhone

In preparation for the 20th anniversary since its first release of the iPhone, Apple is planning to launch a redesigned model in 2027. As per a machine translation of a report by ETNews, the upcoming phone may feature a full screen without a bezel, and a display that is curved on all four edges.

According to the report, the 20th anniversary iPhone will have a display that wraps around all of its edges, making it borderless. To accommodate this, Apple will apparently equip the alleged phone with an under-display front camera, as well as a pure silicone battery for better battery life.

Apple is also apparently planning to shift from its current 28nm planar process to a 16nm FinFET process OLED display driver chip (DDI) to reduce power consumption. Additionally, the report states that the company will be meeting with OLED display suppliers, Samsung Display and LG Display, to determine the technology that will be implemented in the iPhone.

A lot of this is expanding on rumours from last month about the iPhone 19 Pro. Though MacRumors notes the technical challenges the Apple product may potentially face. Featuring a four-sided curved all-screen design could impact its structure, making it more fragile. The lack of bezels would also make finger-placement awkward.
