Here at CES 2024, ASUS officially launched the updated ROG Zephyrus G14, plus the new ROG Zephyrus G16. Both laptops come with a multitude of improvements that include some updates in their design, new physical features and, stating the obvious, upgrades to the internal designs.

Starting with the Zephyrus G14, this year’s model of ASUS’ 14-inch powerhouse gaming laptop comes with up to the new AMD Ryzen 9 8940HS that also features AMD’s latest Ryzen AI. The display still measures in at 14-inches but this year around, it’s a 3K (2,880 x 1,800) ROG Nebula OLED panel and 0.2ms response time, as wel as a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Oh, and it’s also an NVIDIA G-Sync panel.

The new Zephyrus G14 can also be fitted with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, plus a maximum of 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. Aesthetically, the base of the laptop has been radically redesigned and compared to its predecessor, it has a more minimalist look. In keeping with the theme, even the back of the display has done away with the AniMe Matrix LED panel and replaced it with a single non-animated LED strip.

As for the GPU, the G14 2024 can be fitted with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RX 4070 but this year around, ASUS is capping the TGP at 90W. Lastly, the whole laptop is powered by a 73Whr battery.

Moving on: if you want a change of pace and you wish to try out Intel’s new Meteor Lake chipset, then the Zephyrus G16. The new laptop appears to be ASUS consolidating its M Series laptops with the G Series but like the G14, this model features the same thin, light, and sleek design.

Internally, the Zephyrus G16 will be fitted with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, the top-of-the-line within the Meteor Lake mobile series; up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with a maximum TGP of 115W; 32GB LPDDR5-7467MHz RAM; up to 4TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, and a massive 90WHr battery.

The display of the Zephyrus G16 comes in at 16-inches but as with the G14, it is an ROG Nebula OLED display with QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600) resolution and a variable refresh rate of 240Hz and 0.2ms response time. Oh, and it’s Pantone Validated with a DCI-P3 gamut of 100%.

One other discerning factor for both the new Zephyrus G14 and G16 is that the laptops are no longer charged by the traditional barrel-tip adapter. Instead, ASUS has redesigned their charging ports to a unique square-shaped inlet.

The new laptops will be available from 19 January onwards. At the time of writing, there is still no local pricing.
