This helmet paintwork is done in collaboration with Momentum Autoparts, a leading Malaysian Racing Car and GoKart Pro Shop. Having a vast variety of inventory, it is considered a go to shop for any racers looking to buy from helmets to racing suits to racing shoes and the list goes on.
I’m honoured to be given this opportunity to collaborate with Momentum, I have also been given much freedom to express myself for this design & paintwork with only one condition, it has to be about Malaysia. So to express Malaysia in my design, I have chosen the Malaysian Food as my theme.
Why Malaysian Food?
Malaysia, a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country is united by one thing, Food and Food is like a vehicle to bridge and experience culture, it not only connects us but it also brings out the best in us and Malaysia’s multicultural food is what unites us and makes us stands out.
I hope this design & paintwork makes you curious about Malaysian Food! If you are, do look it up in Google and try cooking them! Enjoy! 😋
What you see in the design & paintwork :
White, Red, Yellow and Blue is Malaysia’s Flag colours.
Front Helmet
Satay – A dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with peanut sauce.
Ketupat – A rice cake packed inside a diamond-shaped container of woven palm leaf pouch.
Left side Helmet
Roti Canai – A flatbread dish served with various sauce.
Nasi Lemak – A dish that consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf served with fried chicken and sambal, ikan bilis, boiled egg, cucumber and peanuts as sides.
Sirap Bandung – A drink consisted of evaporated milk or condensed milk flavoured with rose syrup, giving it a pink colour.
Right side Helmet
Mee Goreng – A stir fried yellow noodle with prawns and various ingredients.
Curry Laksa – A spicy noodle soup garnished with various toppings mainly chicken, cockles, deep fried tofu puffs, long beans, bean sprouts, eggplants and mint leaves.
Teh C – A tea drink with evaporated milk served in classic tea cup and saucer.
Back Helmet
Angku Kuih – A pastry with soft, sticky glutinous rice flour skin wrapped around a sweet filling in the centre.
Teh Ikat Tepi – A tea drink with evaporated milk packed in a plastic bag tied on the side. This type of take-away style is unique to Malaysia.
Bunnyboy – It is a boy character wearing a Bunny Hat which I developed in year 2011. You can see more of Bunnyboy here :
