KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Bung Moktar Radin has declared victory for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah in the Sabah state elections.
He said tonight the coalition, comprising Perikatan Nasional, BN, and PBS, had achieved a simple majority. PPBM secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin had similarly stated earlier that the coalition had crossed the 37-seat threshold for a simple majority.
Bung thanked the voters in Sabah for their confidence in GRS in taking over the reins of govenment from Warisan Plus.
He said discussions would be held soon on a GRS candidate to be nominated for the chief minister’s post.
GRS leaders and supporters, who gathered at the coalition’s command centre in Kota Kinabalu, were all smiles as news of the coalition’s success filters in. Chants of “GRS” and “Ubah Balik” ring out.
Among those present are PPBM supreme council member Azmin Ali and SAPP president Yong Teck Lee.
