Creative Launches Aurvana Ace Series Earbuds; Retails From US$129.99

Creative officially launched its Aurvana Ace Series of TWS earbuds. The new series comprises two SKUs, the Ace and Ace 2 but more importantly, the earbuds are some of the first products to use the new XMEM solid-state drivers.

As a quick primer, Creative teamed up with a company xMEMS Labs back in August this year. The latter is responsible for developing what is widely regarded as the world’s first solid-state speaker, otherwise referred to as micro-electro-mechanical systems, or MEMS for short. Much like solid-state drives in the world of computers, MEMS do not technically contain any moving parts – it does away with the traditional coils and magnets that have traditionally driven sound in audio products for the past century.

Getting back on point, the Creative Aurvana Ace Series earbuds generally share a set of features, including support for Bluetooth 5.3, ANC, 10mm xMEMS drivers, and a total of 24 hours worth of audio playback from both earbuds and charging cradle. Oh, and Creative says that its new earbuds arer IPX5 certified, meaning that you can workout and sweat your heart out while wearing them.

Both the Creative Aurvana Ace and Ace 2 support a variety of audio codecs, including SBC, AAC, Qualcomm AptX, and AptX Adaptive, but it should be noted that the Ace 2 is very clearly the more premium model of the two and comes pack with some additional features over the Ace. Chief among which is Adaptive ANC and Qualcomm’s aptX Lossless codec, giving it the ability to output 16-bit/44.1kHz audio quality. Basically, Creative is simply saying that the Ace 2 is the only pair of the two that is capable of replicating CD-level audio quality.

Both the Creative Aurvana Ace and Ace 2 are already available for purchase. The Ace retails at US$129.99 (~RM608) while the Ace 2 is priced at US$149.99 (~RM701). At the time of writing, we are still waiting on the brand to provide us with local pricing for the two xMEMS earbuds.
