PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced increased compound rates for traffic offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 and its regulations.
The new rates come into effect from July 1.
They encourage traffic offenders to settle fines earlier to avoid paying hefty penalties.
In a statement, DBKL said the new compound rates for motorcycles are RM30 for payments made within 15 days, RM50 for those from the 16th to the 30th day, and RM80 from the 31st to the 60th day.
For cars, the compound rate is RM50 for payments made within the first 15 days, RM80 from the 16th to the 30th day, and RM100 from the 31st to the 60th day.
For heavy vehicles, the compound rate is RM200 for payments made within the first 15 days, RM250 for those made from the 16th to 30th day and RM300 from the 31st to 60th day.
