Top 10 Places to Buy Refurbished Android Phones

Android smartphones are amazing and all, but not everyone is able to afford the top of the line smartphones. That’s right, not everyone is going to overshoot and get a Samsung Galaxy S7 on contract. Some people like to wait for the inevitable price drop. Others yet choose to get refurbished Android phones. Well, a refurbished phone is one that has been returned to the manufacturer or a mobile phone repair shop, fixed and restored to its original specifications. A refurbished phone should, in all aspects, work in exactly the same way as a new...

Samsung is set to release the results of its Galaxy Note7 investigation on Monday, explaining the underlying causes of the problems that led to the phone's demise. The three independent quality control and supply chain analysis firms Samsung engaged to conduct the investigation concluded that the Note7 was affected by two separate issues, according to a Wall Street Journal report published Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. One was a battery issue; the other was the rush to market. If the Battery Fits The battery issue reportedly originated with batteries made by Samsung SDI, which did not fit inside the phone properly, leading some devices to overheat, catch fire or even explode. Samsung's response apparently was to increase production of Note7 devices using batteries made by...

Improve Your Designs With The Principles Of Closure And Figure-Ground (Part 2)

Have you ever wondered how elements come together to create successful designs? It’s no accident that compelling design just seems to work. What most of these designs have in common is the use of gestalt grouping principles to organize information that helps us understand the relationships and differences between elements. As designers, we can use these principles to create our own engaging and successful work. In the first part of this series, we focused on the principles of similarity and proximity to understand how the gestalt principles work in creating relationships between elements. Next, we’ll focus on the principles of closure and figure-ground, which play with positive and negative space to build relationships and create wholes with the sum of their parts. As in the first article,...

Fluid Typography

Embracing fluid typography might be easier than you think. It has wide browser support, is simple to implement and can be achieved without losing control over many important aspects of design. Unlike responsive typography, which changes only at set breakpoints, fluid typography resizes smoothly to match any device width. It is an intuitive option for a web in which we have a practically infinite number of screen sizes to support. Yet, for some reason, it is still used far less than responsive techniques. Improve Your Designs With The Principles Of Similarity And Proximity (Part 1)

The perceptual process enables us to perceive the world through our senses of sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. In particular, our visual system processes vast amounts of information in its environment. Rather than perceiving elements separately, our brain organizes patterns, objects and shapes into whole forms that we can understand. The gestalt grouping principles of visual perception describe this organization as a set of principles that explain how we perceive and organize this huge amount of visual stimuli. The gestalt principles – similarity, proximity, closure, figure-ground, continuance and common fate – are a popular tool used by designers for visually organizing information.
