Gambling can be a dangerous addiction, leading to serious consequences if one is not careful. While many show support and patience for friends and family members recovering from unhealthy obsessions, this local artist has unfortunately reached a breaking point.
Over the weekend, singer-influencer Diorlying Tan (Dior大颖) shared a carousel of photos and chat screenshots on her Instagram to announce that she has officially disowned her younger brother, Ansen. According to her, he has a gambling addiction and has not made any progress in overcoming it. “This is my younger brother, who I thought had repented and changed. If he ever asks to borrow money from you, please do not trust him at all,” she warned her followers.
In her lengthy IG post, the performer revealed the extent to which her brother was willing to go to satisfy his cravings: borrowing money from loan sharks, scamming people—including his girlfriend—online, and even stealing from his own parents. Diorlying claimed that, due to Ansen’s dealings with loan sharks, her younger sister was almost kidnapped from school, believing she would be used as leverage to ensure Ansen paid his debts.
The singer also recounted how her brother stole a gold chain from their father to pawn for gambling money. “We were filming an interview when it happened. The host asked my father what his favourite gift was, and he said it was the gold chain he received on Father’s Day. We found out later that Ansen stole it on that same day,” she explained. To make matters worse, her troubled sibling even allegedly scammed her fans recently; asking for help with his “family’s financial burdens” or convincing them to invest in his “business”.
To ensure their own safety, Diorlying’s family has disowned Ansen, making it clear that they will no longer clean up after his messes. “You’ve betrayed our family’s trust in you. Every day, I find myself wondering whether someone will go to my sister’s store to cause trouble, or if the loan sharks will show up at my door like they did before. I dread the thought of anyone messaging me asking for money. I don’t want to worry about potential disruptions during my live performances.”
The influencer ended her post by wishing her younger brother well, expressing hope that he would one day turn over a new leaf. Scrolling through the comments section, many expressed sympathy for Diorlying while others resonated with her story and shared similar experiences of what they went through with their loved ones. As for Ansen, he initially changed his Instagram username following his sister’s viral post but was eventually exposed by the entertainer again and has since deactivated his account.
