When it comes to building your career, deciding to leave your job can be a scary but necessary decision. However, for things to change, you sometimes need to take the leap. Well, it seems Hong Kong actor Stephen Wong Ka-Lok (黃嘉樂) is certainly willing!
Stephen recently revealed some surprising news on his socials. The veteran actor announced that after 21 years of working with TVB, he would soon be leaving the broadcasting company! It certainly came as a shock as Stephen allegedly still has 4 unfinished dramas, including “Speakers of Law (法言人)” which he is a lead for.
The announcement was released on Friday (2nd December). “I am grateful for everything that has accompanied (my growth) these past 21 years. All the people and things I have encountered are my best reward,” Stephen wrote. However, it seems he is now willing to close this chapter of his life.
“(It’s time to) jump out of the comfort zone, look for more opportunities, meet more challenges in the future, and look forward to a brand new self,” Stephen said, sounding excited about what was to come. Fans and friends were quick to wish Stephen well on his next journey, after expressing their astonishment at his announcement.
Stephen has over forty works to his name since his debut to the film industry. However, most of the roles he played were either supporting or background roles. It wasn’t until recently that Stephen started getting bigger roles, such as the upcoming show, “Speakers of Law”. Aside from that, he is also involved in three other dramas which have yet to be released.
The 44-year-old actor is the third member of the “Iron Horse Family (铁马家族)” to leave TVB. Fellow actors and friends Kevin Cheng (郑嘉颖) and Natalie Tong (唐诗咏) were the first two to take their leave. But, Jazz Lam (林子善) told Hong Kong media that he currently has no intention of doing the same.
This isn’t the only change Stephen has had in his life recently. In fact, he proposed and got married to his sweetheart of five years, wedding photographer Samantha Kong (江惠賢) in May and August this year! Well, like many others, we too would like to wish Stephen all the best as he gets ready for the next leg of his career.
