Huawei Announces Nova 12 Series In China

Huawei has recently unveiled its new nova 12 smartphone series in China, which consists of a standard model, a Pro, an Ultra, and a Lite variant. All four offer a similar design language, but with distinct rear panel aesthetics for each model. Of course, the phones differ from one another in terms of specifications as well, though keep in mind that the brand did not disclose the type of chipset and the RAM capacity that they are equipped with.

First is the standard Huawei nova 12 variant which is said to come with a Kirin 830 chipset, along with up to 512GB of internal storage. Its display has a 6.7-inch OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, 2412 x 1084 px resolution, and an under-display fingerprint sensor. Additionally, it features liquid-cooling based heat management system, NFC connectivity, and a 4,600mAh battery with 100W fast charging via USB-C.

For photography, the phone’s elliptical rear camera setup sports an LED flash, a laser focus sensor, a 50MP primary sensor, and an 8MP ultra-wide. Meanwhile, housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 60MP selfie camera.

Next up is the nova 12 Pro, which is believed to be equipped with Huawei’s flagship Kirin 9000S chipset, along with up to 512GB storage. It features a 6.76-inch LTPO OLED display with 2776 x 1224 px resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and Kunlun Glass protection. Also onboard a two-way Beidou satellite-based calling and messaging support, dual-band GPS, NFC, stereo speakers, and a 4,600mAh battery with 100W USB-C fast charging support.

In terms of imaging, the phone’s rear camera setup consists of an LED flash, a laser focus sensor, a 50MP primary sensor, and an 8MP ultra-wide. In front, housed within the pill-shaped cutout on its display is a 60MP selfie camera and an 8MP portrait shooter with 2x optical zoom.

Then we have the nova 12 Ultra, which is basically equipped with the same components as the Pro, save for a higher storage capacity and three different rear panel designs. Unlike its closest sibling, Huawei is offering this particular model with up to 1TB of internal storage.

Last but not least is the Huawei nova 12 Lite, which is said to feature a Snapdragon 778G SoC and up to 512GB of storage. It has the smallest profile of the four, despite having the same 6.7-inch OLED panel as the standard variant. The phone also comes with a smaller battery at only 4,500mAh and a slower charging rate of 66W.

On the back of the Lite variant is a different elliptical rear camera arrangement, though it does feature the same 50MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide, and laser focus sensor as the vanilla model. Similarly, housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 60MP selfie camera as well.
