DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Mohamad’s comments about him are different from those she made against the Lim family and others.
GEORGE TOWN: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook will not file a lawsuit against Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Mohamad, who recently alleged that Loke is related to party chairman Lim Guan Eng.
“She said that I am Guan Eng’s cousin, which carries no negative connotation.
“It has not come to the extent of being defamatory,” Loke said at a press conference on the sidelines of Penang DAP’s 2023 annual convention here today.
He said his case differs from others involving Guan Eng and his father Kit Siang, who Siti Mastura claimed are related to former Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng.
On Nov 14, Siti Mastura was questioned by the Bukit Aman classified crime investigation unit after police reports were lodged against her for a speech in Terengganu on Nov 4 during which she alleged that Kit Siang and Guan Eng were also cousins of the late Singapore prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew, and that Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was a cousin of Betty Chew, Guan Eng’s wife.
The deputy chief of PAS’s women’s wing also alleged that a number of DAP leaders were blood relations of the Lim family.
Bukit Aman criminal investigation department chief Shuhaily Zain previously said the case was being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for statements leading to public alarm and distress, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for the improper use of network facilities or network services.
