JPJ opens bidding for ‘MADANI’ number plates

PETALING JAYA: The “MADANI” series of special number plates for vehicles is up for bidding.

The road transport department said the lowest price is RM100 for running numbers and highest is RM20,000 for special numbers, Bernama reported.

Bidding through the JPJeBid system began yesterday and will close at 10pm this Wednesday.

JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said in a statement today the results would be announced on Thursday.

Those who succeed in getting the registration number they desire must register them within 12 months from the date the official bid result letter is issued.

Aedy said the minimum bid price for the number plate series was set according to the categories – RM20,000 for “main numbers”, RM5,000 for “premium numbers”, RM2,500 for “attractive numbers”, RM500 for “popular numbers” and RM100 for “running numbers”.

He said the proceeds from the sale would be used for the government’s initiatives to help the needy like MyLesen, the helmet exchange programme, FlySiswa and Socso payments to taxi drivers.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim received the special registration number plate of “MADANI 10” from transport minister Loke Siew Fook during the Madani Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah programme in Kota Kinabalu. Anwar is the country’s 10th prime minister.
