KTM has announced that its ETS train service will be extended to Segamat. From March 15, four services will reach the Johor town following the gradual completion of the Gemas-Johor Bahru electrified double-tracking rail project.

Basically, this is the existing Butterworth – Gemas – Butterworth route and the Padang Besar – Gemas – Padang Besar route going further south. The Gemas-JB EDTP project is 192 km long and has 11 stops crossing four major districts in Johor, including Segamat, Kluang and Kulai before terminating at JB Sentral. The project will be fully completed this year.

With Segamat connected to the ETS, those from there can now go to all the destinations listed below directly by rail. The fare for the ride up to Butterworth is RM84 one way, while going all the way to Padang Besar will cost RM101. Of course, there’s also a direct connection to the capital’s KL Sentral station and other cities like Seremban, Ipoh and Alor Setar.

“Segamat residents can now take the ETS to KL, up to Padang Besar, Perlis. With modern and attractive facilities, this service will bring great benefits to the local community and improve interconnectivity and the local economy,” said transport minister Anthony Loke.

“This Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the ETS extension to Segamat provides a more comfortable transport option to the rakyat to return to their hometowns,” the Seremban MP added, urging people to get their tickets fast.

Opened in May 2024, the new KTM Segamat station is equipped with lifts, escalators, CCTVs, surau and parking for 97 cars and 49 motorcycles. The station is also OKU friendly. Check out the timetable above.
