Ong Kian Ming, pro vice-chancellor for external engagement at Taylor’s University, says Malaysia’s bid to join the BRICS group of emerging economies is more about that than “seeking our own legitimate economic interests.”

Talent, human capital is one of the most important elements if not the most…. And it is one of Malaysia development obstacle… Education reform, if would really be implemented, would it be too late…in term of tapping into the opportunity… But judging by the continue in fighting about races and religions…. 😢😭
Be careful of this british puppet…
Yes Malaysia ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dr Ong Kian Ming ❤❤❤
What a dumb move. Most companies are American or European, why would Malaysia want to antagonize US or Europe by siding with another? If its not broken, why put a nail to your foot???
Malaysia has a neutral stand and trades with both US and China.
Malaysia will the second to reach high income nation after Singapore in ASEAN.
Now, will the US rethink if she wants to build semiconductor and AI capabilities and industrial in Malaysia. US might as well focus on the Indonesia market.
If Malaysia is neutral why do we need to join a group of Bricks, they cant get their Act together and China want to make their currency as reserve currency (devaluations incoming!) 😂
Thankfully CNBC got the right person to interview instead of unknown people that knew next to nothing.
Ask why Singapore is not joining BRICS?
Good move to Malaysia to Malaysia Madani government and our PMX DSAI 🇲🇾🧡💙♥️🇲🇾
BRICS is the future.
There are 3.7 billion consumers in BRICS.
It is a huge market .
It is not about politics.
Malaysia is neutral between USA and China.
Eventually the world would trade more and more with BRICS.
Well done to Anwar.
join BRICS for what ??? Buy oil or gas ???
It's about breaking away from the USD hegemony.
Sawit tidak Di terima Di eropah.. Malaysia perlu pasaran luas untuk sawitnya..
Kiss goodbye all the chip industry. Since Anwar is pro China…this has to be expected.
Good job Malaysia, China have enriched our economy and buying a lot from
Malaysia
I think it's also about western unfair monetary system. Last year Malaysia received the biggest investment ever from foreign investors but still Ringgit currency almost hit all time low. How is that possible? Said our PM. Stabilisation of Ringgit is one of our country top priority right now
Camera out of focus
You couldn't be more wrong!
Malaysia ascension to BRICS is VISIONARY LEVERAGING, and embarking and harnessing BRI is BRIDGING MALAYSIA DREAMS TO REALITIES ( FROM NOW TO FUTURE ). ANWAR MASTERSTROKE!
All Anwar administrations needed is to initiate a colossal idea like the world biggest port and relegate Singapore to an auxiliary port, Malaysia is there! Next, through BRI & BRICS, create an iconic project in each state, 13 in all excluding the port, Malaysia piggybacking on China ambitions will be richest country THIRD TO NONE, and Anwar and PKR will be the evergreen government of Malaysia – CORRECT AND POLITICALLY CORRECT!!!!😊
OKM = PRO
Barat sabotage ekonomi Russia, Asia, Afrika, Arabs, Latin Amerika.
Malaysia juga di tindas dan minyak sawit di sabo begitu teruk.
Nasib pasar sawit d terima bahagian rantau lain.
Kita harus asakan game tit 4 tat.
Boycott barangan Barat terutama Perancis.
Lakukan seperti Afrika tengah yang dah mula putus hubungan dengan Perancis.
BRICs are made up of corrupt authoritarian countries, so Malaysia fits right in!
Malaysia Petronus in risk position threatened by import Russian oil and gas
India rejects Malaysia from joining BRICS🤣
👍 but don't balance by going overboard with Hamas
How does it feel after being rejected by India? 😮👂
Dr Ong..👍🔥
Bull shift
Soon, all Malaysian will speak Chinese as national language.
Sumatera support malaysia join brics jangan dengarkan komentar netizen jawanesia
EU and US are biggest bully, spreading false information about palm oil industry and BAN palm oil from malaysian & indonesian to be exported to these country. Well, malaysia doing a great move to join BRICS.
Country basically sold to Communists.
A migration of your own country talented people to Singapore and USA is a big gap … Ask pmx to settle it rather than focus only on others countries affairs.. Mm
Malaysia definitely not gaining from the manipulation and hegemony of the US (dollar ). More like receiving the short
end of the stick .
China: Largest trading partner
US: Largest foreign investment
Malaysia knows one day Uncle Sam will sanction her and also export a lot of human rights and freedom into her also. So Malaysia need to hedge its bet into BRICS as insurance.
The decision to join BRICS by the Malaysian PM is a wise move to prevent complete reliance on the US n its G7 vassal states as they are no longer the main engine of growth for the world.
It's also to protect Malaysia from their indiscriminate use of sanctions to collapse the economies of countries that dare disobey their orders n do not align with their extremely toxic foreign policies
RAW IS WAR. Malaysia dissapointed, embarrassed & feeling uneasy to be associated with nations who're proudly portraying severe lack of elamentary reasonings and CHOOSING to support genocides.
He’s saying that Americans are going to take Malaysia out of BRICS just like Bangladeshi.
The world has grown tired of games.
as Bangsa Johor. Fully support Msia with openly to joins BRICS+. Msia as Chair-nation ASEAN 2025, Msia should takes opportunity to join BRICS+, since Indonesia as G20 member w/ 280mil population is not joins BRICS+ after invited by China Xi JingPeng. Msia fill- in the vacant seat ahead of Thailand w/ 70mil population application. Msia Boleh as UAE.
to move up the value chain you need brains which can only happen if you open up the universities to best staff and students. affirmative action can continue for malays and others but at least get our best research universities to attract the best talent locally and overseas and the best students from the same, we have a lot of local talent being wasted and leaving the country and strenghthening our competitors instead of usiing their brains for our benefit. also the VCs of public universities cannot be by race and nomination but by global and local talent search. if you want to design chips and innovate green technology and produce green automobiles then promote a fairer system of education, job opportunities and reward.
Malaysia is crystal clear as pro-BRICS .. so, bye bye USA, EU, G7, Japan&S.Korea and others? ⭐ 🤔 ?
