Mattel Launches New “Brick Shop” Brand With Seven Iconic Car Models

Mattel, has recently announced its first-ever brick models under its new Mattel Brick Shop brand. The line-up of these new brick models consists of seven iconic cars that they get to build from scratch via various parts – much like LEGO. It’s worth mentioning that while the brand says that this is done in collaboration with Hot Wheels, Mattel itself owns the Hot Wheels brand.

According to Mattel, the purpose of this new product is to give customers a new way to construct, personalise, and collect. Each set is claimed to offer accurate details, customisation options, and even a matching 1:64 scale die-cast model of the same vehicle.

The new Brick Shop Hot Wheels line is categorised into three series: the Premium, Elite, and Speed. Under the Premium Series, there is currently only one model, the legendary gullwing-equipped Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. This 1:12 scale model features opening doors, a metal Mercedes-Benz crest, and luxe interior detailing.

As for the Elite Series, there are three models. The first is the Corvette Grand Sport, which comes with a low-slung profile and metallic exhaust pipe. Next is the ’90 Acura NSX, a legend in the JDM world – featuring pop-up headlights, functional steering, and swappable licence plates to build it as an Acura or Honda NSX.

Finally, there is the Custom ’62 Chevy Pickup, a classic American muscle. It has an exposed engine, adjustable suspension, and a surfboard in the back. According to the company, these three models allow the buyer to customise with extra parts, metal wheel covers, and licensed decals, and they come in 1:16 scale.

Now coming to the Speed Series, it features three models in 1:32 scale, which also allow the customer to custom-build the models with additional wheel covers and licensed decals. The first car on the list is the Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar.

Next is the Custom ’68 Camaro, a high-speed American muscle featuring bold stripes, a wide stance, and metallic exhaust pipes. Finally, there is a classic Italian model – the Maserati MC20, which comes with elegant butterfly doors and a visible motor.

Now coming to prices; it starts at US$19.99 (~RM85) for the Speed Series, US$49.99 (~RM213) for the Elite Series, and US$119.99 (~RM511) for the Premium Series. The Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels sets can be ordered from selected stores and it is open for pre-orders at the moment.
