Chinese New Year ended not too long ago, however, some have already regretfully left us. Unfortunately, this includes Mr. Gan Wah Yik (颜华益), founder of record company New Southern Records Sdn Bhd (南方唱片机构有限公司).
The news was announced yesterday (25th February) by New Southern Records Sdn Bhd via their Facebook. Friends and mentees of Mr. Gan Wah Yik have since flooded the comments to express their condolences and to mourn his loss.
“(We will) miss you forever, Managing Director of New Southern Records Sdn Bhd (Mr. Gan Wah Yik). Your virtues will last forever and your legacy will remain in this world,” the post read. It was also accompanied by a memorial photo of Mr. Gan.
Many have since left comments on the post to mourn his loss. Among them are predominantly his friends and artists in the industry such as singers Raymond Ng (黄铭德), Jenvent Ng (黄嘉雯), Lim Yong Huat (林永发) and Jane Tan (陈丽绢). They shared how much they would miss him and wished him a good journey to the next life.
New Southern Records Sdn Bhd was founded by Mr. Gan Wah Yik on 31st May 1974. It has supported many singers since its founding, including artists such as Zhuang Xue Zhong (庄学忠), Raju Kumara (小黑), Long Piao-piao (龙飘飘) and Michelle Hsieh (谢采妘).
Our hearts and prayers go out to those who knew the late Mr. Gah Wah Yik. We sincerely hope they find peace in his passing and that his legacy will continue to grow.
