New Year, New Car: 6yo Boy From Sabah Wins Perodua Axia In Lucky Draw

They say that children are a blessing, and this was certainly the case for one family in Sabah. Over the weekend, an event was held at Suria Shopping Mall in Kota Kinabalu, where shoppers had the chance to win a Perodua Axia car in a lucky draw. Three contestants were called to the stage after their numbers were drawn.

Each contestant was then asked to choose one of three keys, which all looked strikingly similar. However, only one key would open the car door. When it was Norazemah Nordin’s turn, she asked her six-year-old son Mohd Zulfikar Al Fateh to select the key, and to everyone’s surprise, it was the right one.

“This gift is a blessing for our children. It is a New Year’s gift we never expected. We are truly grateful,” said the excited mother. That day was truly a lucky one for the whole family, as they had not initially planned to enter the lucky draw contest. According to The Rakyat Post, the family were simply at the shopping centre that day to pick up their order at Robert.T 1994, the eyewear brand organising the contest.

Norazemah was told that she was eligible to participate in the programme, which was officiated by the Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP), Datuk Ewon Benedick. “We already have a car. So for this newly won car, we will use it for a special vacation,” she explained before adding that her husband will be bringing the brand new Perodua Axia back to their hometown in Keningau, Sabah.

This is not the first time a child has won a car in a lucky draw. Last year, a five-year-old girl from Sarawak won a Perodua Aruz in the Sarawak Malaysia Games (SUKMA) lucky draw contest. Perhaps such stories will inspire more parents to allow their children to take part in lucky draws, as who knows – they might just win the grand prize.
