How would you feel if someone had given you a gift, only to ask for it back because you had ignored them? Well, that was what this man did. In a Facebook post by Hazel Leong, she claimed that her daughter was extorted by a man she met while singing at a bar in Butterworth, Penang.
According to the post, the man had given her daughter about RM180 worth of tips, food and a ribbon gift. However, due to the girl’s shyness, she didn’t interact much with the man, which left him dissatisfied.
The Facebook post also claimed that the man was unhappy that Hazel’s daughter did not consume alcohol at the bar and was slow to reply to his messages. In response to this, the man took to WeChat to publicly shame the girl and extort her for the RM180 he had spent on her. He even posted her photos on WeChat Moments and said he would charge an interest if the girl failed to pay him back.
While it doesn’t seem that the matter has been solved, Hazel did try to persuade the man to stop extorting her daughter. She added that the RM180 given by the man would’ve gone to the bar owner instead of her daughter. Hazel also said she could pay back the RM180 but wanted the man to apologise to her and her daughter for bullying them.
Many netizens have reacted to the Facebook post, showing support for the mother and daughter while shaming the man for trying to ask for the RM180 he gifted to someone. Many even mocked him, saying he shouldn’t spend the RM180 on bar singers if he couldn’t afford it. Some even said the man was being too petty over a small amount of money.
What do you think about this story? Is the man being too petty over such a minor issue? Listen to the Hazel’s converstation with the man below:
