PETALING JAYA: A Sabah PKR Youth leader has questioned if a government civics training centre in Kundasang has been reserved solely for Umno’s use.
Fekirie Gobet, the youth wing’s communications director, said he had been made to understand that government leaders were barred from using the premises and facilities.
“If you are sincere about fostering unity, why not grant access to all?” he said in a Facebook post.
Fekirie said the bar on others from using the centre or attending events held there was aimed at maintaining Umno’s dominance and would only alienate young talent from various backgrounds.
The training centre, Pusat Latihan Kenegaraan, is operated by Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia, a unit of the Prime Minister’s Department which conducts civics courses to instill patriotism.
There are 16 centres in West Malaysia, and one each in Sabah and Sarawak.
