Qualcomm has announced its latest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. According to the company, the new platform promises 15% CPU and 15% Adreno GPU performance over its predecessor, as well as 5% reduction in power consumption.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is also the first in the series to feature on-device generative AI capabilities, supporting a wide range of LLMs (large language model) and LVMs (large vision model) such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Gemini Nano. This should enable mid-range devices to offer advanced virtual assistants, as well as multi-language translation and transcription.

The new platform is built on the 4nm process technology, with the prime Cortex-X4 core clocked at 2.8 GHz. Along with it are four performance cores running at 2.6 GHz, and three efficiency cores at 1.9 GHz. Memory support is up to 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Also onboard is a Snapdragon X63 5G modem with FastConnect 7800 mobile connectivity system and 3GPP Release 17 5G. Additionally, the chipset allows for display support of up to 4K at 60Hz and QHD+ at 120Hz, while Snapdragon Sound powers its ability to provide spatial audio.
