R00TK1T Claims To Have Breached Maxis’ Kulim Network

R00TK1T seems to have made good on a part of its promise on wiping out Maxis’ infrastructure, claiming that it has breached the telco’s Kulim network. The hacker group posted its latest threat via Telegram, stating that it has already shut down all of its systems within the area.

“We’ve successfully infiltrated Kulim’s network, bypassed their feeble firewall, and plunged their system back into the dark ages. No more modern conveniences for them. It’s a taste of what’s to come if you continue to underestimate us.”

At the time of writing, R00TK1T claims that Maxis still hasn’t responded to it, separate from the telco’s official statement earlier today, whereby it acknowledges the security breach and launched an investigation. The group says that it will continue shutting down the telco’s other facilities until it gives in to the group’s initial demand: issue a public statement that provides “accurate and transparent information.”
