Redmagic 8S Pro To Land In Malaysia On 3 August

The nubia Redmagic 8S Pro was first teased by the company earlier in the month, a week before its global launch. With said launch done and over with, the company has announced that the phone will be coming to the local market next week.

In case you’ve missed it, the Redmagic 8S Pro comes equipped with a 6.8-inch 2480×1116 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 above it. The chipset is a strange one, as the company calls it the Leading Version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Name aside, it is actually the same chipset found in this year’s batch of Samsung Galaxy phones, clocked up for slightly better performance.

With the global launch of the Redmagic Pro behind us, we now know a little more about other parts of the phone’s spec sheet. For one, it will have RAM choices of 12GB and 16GB, with storage options being 256GB and 512GB. According to GSMArena, these are locked to specific colourways though. And while the phone retains its 6,000mAh battery, charging rate looks to have been toned down a little, going from 80W in its home market to 65W in the international model. Despite this, a full charge from empty is still estimated to take 40 minutes, as opposed to 35, so it’s not too huge a difference.

For its cameras, the Redmagic 8S Pro is equipped with a 50MP main + 8MP wide-angle + 2MP macro camera setup at the back. In front, and sitting under the display is a 16MP shooter.

Also worth noting from the report is that the Redmagic 8S Pro was in preorder since 27 July for the international market, up until 2 August. Actual availability was pinned on 3 August, the same date that the phone makes its way here. With that in mind, we are probably getting the phone right after its local launch rather than having to wait for another pre-order period. That being said, the exact RAM and storage configurations, and their corresponding prices, will only be revealed next week.
