All road maintenance work that requires lane closures on highways will be halted from March 24 to April 7 this year for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi has said, according to Bernama.
The temporary suspension of maintenance work that requires lane closures coincides with enforcement operations conducted by agencies including the police, the road transport department (JPJ), and the Malaysian fire and rescue department (JBPM), the works minister said.
“The lane closure restriction does not apply to emergency works. This is a standard directive issued by the ministry, where no construction or maintenance work should be carried out during this period to prevent disruptions and traffic congestion,” he said.
Today, the works minister said that the government will also be making an announcement on the toll fare discount for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, and added that it would mirror the discount introduced for Chinese New Year in January.
