As a die-hard Crayon Shin-Chan enthusiast – so much so that I named my cat “Ocipan” after a funny episode where Shin-Chan has a drawing duel with a chimpanzee – visiting “The Crayon Shin-Chan Experience” was an absolute dream come true!
From now to 10th December 2024, Pavilion Bukit Jalil will be home to “The Crayon Shin-Chan Experience,” where you’ll get to explore the cheeky, heartwarming world of Shin-Chan like never before.
A Playful World With A Touch Of Art
Prepare to be amazed as Shin-Chan’s world meets the iconic style of Van Gogh in this one-of-a-kind experience. Expect to see your favourite characters come to life through bold, colourful interpretations, blending the cheeky charm of Shin-Chan with Van Gogh’s iconic vividness. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the anime or just discovering its quirky humour, this playful twist will bring out the artist in everyone!
Explore The Highlights Of The Crayon Shin-Chan Experience:
Anime Café
The ACO Lab Anime Café is a treat for the taste buds. I tried the Nohara Homey Ramen Bowl, Ribena Longan Sparkle, and Shiro Dreamy Pudding. The ramen was delicious and hit all the right notes of comfort food. However, the Ribena Longan Sparkle was overly sweet for my taste – I barely managed half the cup. It would be great if they offered a sugar level option for those of us who prefer a less sugary drink. The Shiro Dreamy Pudding was a delightful end to my meal, perfectly capturing the playful spirit of the anime.
While eating and watching anime at the café was cool, I personally would have preferred to watch the Crayon Shin-Chan series rather than a movie. The series is more iconic, and since many visitors came with families and friends, it would have been easier to enjoy the lighter episodes while eating and sharing laughs. The movie, on the other hand, felt too action-packed and heavy. I think screening the series would make the ambiance more relaxed and fun, especially for kids who’d appreciate the humour in the shorter episodes.
Immersive Photo Zones
The immersive photo zones were a blast! They’re designed with meticulous attention to detail, capturing the essence of Shin-Chan’s world. However, I found that visiting alone limited my ability to fully engage with the spaces. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend going with a friend or family member to make the most of the photo zones and share the fun.
Merchandise Store
I was excited to explore the merchandise store, but I found the prices a bit expensive compared to online options. I already own a few Keeppley Crayon Shin-Chan bricks, and while I love them, the in-store prices were higher than what I’ve seen online. If you’re a fan like me, you might want to browse online before buying. While the store does have some exclusive items, most can be found at a better price elsewhere.
