Sure, Malaysia’s a little late to the party but don’t let that stop you from catching Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” on the big screen this weekend! The film follows the story of Samuel “Sammy” Fabelman, his quirky, dysfunctional family, and the trials and tribulations of a great filmmaker in the making.
What makes this Spielberg film so special is that the main character Sammy, played brilliantly by Gabriel LaBelle is based on the director himself! In fact, the whole Fabelman clan is based on Spielberg’s real family! So when you watch the joy and heartache of the Fabelmans on screen, you know it’s coming from a genuine place.

Joining the cast is Michelle Williams as Mitzy Schildkraut-Fabelman and Paul Dano, who also played the Riddler in 2022’s “The Batman”, stars as Burt Fabelman. Actors Julia Butters, Judd Hirsch and Jeannie Berlin appear in the film as Sammy’s three sisters. Furthermore, the films we see young Sammy make in the film are recreations of the type of films young Spielberg would make in his younger days.
No matter how old or young you are, the power of films touches us all and invites us to see the world through the eyes of its creators. So come and witness the life of one of cinema’s greatest filmmakers made by the man himself! “The Fabelmans” is now available at your local theatres today.
