PARIS: TikTok is taking stock of the biggest hits from the past 12 months. Among the multitude of videos published on the platform, makeup artist Nyadollie’s video was the most popular, both in the USA and worldwide.
Dominated by beauty tips, comedy and cute scenes, here are the top 10 most popular videos on TikTok in 2023.
With over a billion users worldwide, it’s been a busy year for TikTok. Between beauty hacks, wacky new trends and activist appeals, the Chinese social network has once again made its mark on the world of platforms.
Beauty
For its look back at 2023, the Chinese social media giant unveiled its top 10 most popular videos in the USA and worldwide. And in this field, content creator and makeup artist Nyadollie, aka @dollievision on TikTok, took the gold medal.
Her “makeup” video, in which the young woman does her makeup to the music of “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington, Jr and Bill Withers, racked up over 504.1 million views.
The TikTok video garnered 37.5 million “Likes,” generated over 700,300 comments and was chosen 1.8 million times as a “favourite” video.
DIY
While beauty is the most popular topic, DIY or “Do It Yourself” videos also have a significant following.
Content creator @justinflom took second place with the creation of his ceiling light. His video was viewed over 418 million times. Some 26.2 million users “liked” the video, published on July 23, 2023, and over 105,600 comments were left under the video. In addition, 1.5 million people have added the video to their “favourites.”
Cats
The third entry features cats. While this kind of content is regularly featured on the app, that of @through.the.lleaves and her Maine Coon was a real success: over 393.9 million views, over 31.7 million “likes,” over 312,300 comments, and over 2.5 million saves as a favorite.
