If you can't handle spicy food be careful when trying asam pedas. But my preference would be the chicken rice balls and nonya cuisine. There's a famous cendol shop beside the rive, you should try it. Malaysians love almost anything with salted egg. Maybe you should try ordering rice with a side dish of prawn or chicken with salted egg. Usually they soak duck egg in salt brine thats why its called salted egg.

I didn't know you two were going to Melaka. If you tell in advance on YouTube there must be someone who can show you around the city of Malacca. The temple you are visiting is actually one of the oldest in Malaysia and is located on Harmonious Street, so named because there are Chinese Temples, Hindu Temples and Mosques that have been scattered and nearby since hundreds of years ago.
2 kilometers from Jonker Street, there is another Dutch Defense fortress located on St John's Hill. At the bottom of the hill about 300 meters there is a Portuguese village of the original generation that once colonized Melaka in the 15th century. There is a food court that serves old traditional Portuguese cuisine. The special thing is that these people interact using the ancient Portuguese language that is no longer used by modern Portugal. . They speak Malay and English too.
Not far from A Famosa there is actually a restaurant selling what we call Nasi Ayam (Chiken Rice) which is popular to travelers. You should also try Nyoya Baba's food, which is Chinese from the generation of Admiral Cheng Ho in the 15th century. It is not the same as Chinese cuisine that has been modified in the way of Malay and Indian cuisine, it is more original.

the “salted egg roll” that you had actually is a very old chinese pastry. the name given from the place was misleading. it should call “salted egg pastry”. the pastry filled with sweet lotus paste and salted egg yolk in the middle. one of you favorite.
