TIME Internet Users Experiencing Service Disruptions From Suspected DNS Outage

0

[ Update 7.16pm ] TIME has released a short statement with regards to this outage. Service is expected to be resolved with the next hour. In the meantime, if you urgently need internet access to get work done *cough* TikTok *cough*   try one of the alternate DNS servers listed below.

[ Original Story ]

Time Internet users across the country are reporting issues with the ISP’s broadband service that started at around 3pm today. While there has been no official statement from TIME, we can confirm that the outage is only limited to their DNS resolution service, and switching to an alternate DNS server should temporarily fix the problem until TIME brings their DNS servers back online.

Quick Fix – Switch to an alternate DNS Server

Without a proper DNS resolver, most websites would not work. Some appliances that connect directly using IP addresses might still be able to function even during a DNS outage. Thankfully enough, switching to a working DNS server is not too difficult. Below is a list of free workable (and safe) DNS servers you can switch to in order to get your devices back in working order. The only catch being you will have to manually do this for each device.

8.8.8.8 Google Primary
8.8.4.4 Google Secondary
1.1.1.1 Cloudflare Primary
1.0.0.1 Cloudflare Secondary
208.67.222.222 Open DNS Primary
208.67.220.220 Open DNS Secondary

Watch below for step by step guides on changing your DNS servers on Windows 10/11, Apple as well as Android devices. Remember to reverse the process once your IPS’s servers are back up – but no harm leaving them as is either.
