Anyone with the faint of heart shouldn’t watch this. On November 8 morning, Facebook user Calvin Shung was driving on the Pan Borneo Highway near Papar in Sabah when he encountered a trailer truck hurtling towards him on a curve, against traffic on a dual-lane single carriageway.
Thankfully, he (as well as a van ahead of him) managed to steer to evade a collision with the big rig. We shudder to think of the shock it gave to all the other motorists on that stretch of road that day.
Shung yesterday posted his dashcam footage and account of the harrowing incident on Facebook, tagging the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the police. Today, the Papar Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division posted on its Facebook page that the driver has been found and arrested.
To say this was extremely dangerous would be a gross understatement. Driving against traffic is bad enough, but a trailer truck doing that on a highway is just next level. This is why dashcams are a good idea, as the trailer truck’s number plate could be captured so the authorities could take action. Please drive safely, everyone.
