(Video) Ceddy Ang Shares Mistreatment During Recent Event; Organiser Extends Apology

Grand opening ceremonies are always an exciting occasion. Not only do you get to check out the newly opened establishment, but you might also enjoy amazing deals or discounts on the day of the event. Celebrities and content creators are also often invited to celebrate these momentous occasions, but sadly, not every experience is a pleasant one.

Earlier this week, Ceddy Ang, aka ceddyornot, was one of the content creators invited to celebrate the launch of the first Ediya Coffee outlet in Malaysia at Elmina Lakeside Mall. He was initially excited to check out their menu, having tried the brand before during his recent trip to South Korea. However, things didn’t quite turn out as he expected.

In one of his latest social media posts, Ceddy recalled his experience at the Ediya Coffee store launch. He was impressed by the size of the outlet and the fact that it has a drive-thru option for customers who would rather have their drinks on the go. Unfortunately, when it came to the drink selection, the influencer was left disappointed, as the ones he had tried in South Korea were not available in Malaysia. He was informed that they may not be suitable for the local market.

The most unpleasant part of the store experience, however, was not necessarily the drinks themselves (or the pricing), but rather the mistreatment he received during the launch event. “It felt like [the organisers] overly prioritised the ministers to the point that they didn’t even provide us with a space to quickly edit our videos. I was repeatedly told to move away from the tables that were apparently reserved for the VIPs, who by the way were late,” he explained. He then later discovered that the ministers ended up not using the space reserved for them.

The TV host then clarified that he does not expect nor does he want VIP treatment, but asks for the organiser to at least acknowledge that he and other content creators were also the invited guests there to promote the newly opened outlet. “It’s not nice to treat us like nobodies. The venue itself was already too crowded, so there was no other place for us to go and do our work. You might as well just invite only the ministers to boost your business,” he added.

Two other people vouched for Ceddy’s experience. Prof. Dato’ Chef Zam attended the event and claimed that he saw how the influencers were not given seats before or during the ceremony. Another content creator shared her disappointment about the organiser cancelling her invitation to attend the opening.

We personally reached out to Ceddy, and he informed us that Ediya Coffee had offered their apology saying, “We sincerely apologise for not being able to extend our full hospitality and for the unpleasant experience you had with us as the crowd was beyond our expectations. We thank you for your humble feedback and once again thank you for your understanding”. At least the brand admitted to their mistakes so hopefully, they’ll do better in the future.
