What Actors Simon Yam & Xiu Jie Kai Did During Visit In Ipoh & Melaka Respectively

It looks like Malaysia continues to pull in all the stars! Recently, many celebrities have been spotted in our dear country, including Hong Kong celebs Bob Lam (林盛斌) and Oscar Leung (梁竞徽) and international superstar Jackson Wang (王嘉尔/잭슨) – and it seems Simon Yam (任达华) and Xiu Jie Kai (修杰楷) are now joining the growing list!

A local news outlet recently reported that Hong Kong actor Simon Yam was at a bean sprouts chicken restaurant in Ipoh on 17th July (Wednesday). The shop owner shared about the star’s sudden patronage, praising the star for being very sweet and down to earth. The owner also revealed that Simon gracefully posed for some photos with her, the restaurant staff and some of his fellow customers. He also looks very comfortable in the pictures, smiling as fans crowd beside him to get a shot with the renowned star.

His low-profile appearance in Ipoh contrasted with a recent public appearance in China, where he had 20 bodyguards surrounding him. As shown in the photos by fans, 69-year-old Simon dressed simply in a denim jacket and pants combo with a camo-print cap. It’s worth noting that Simon often visits Malaysia in his free time, and fans have spotted him casually walking around the city.

Another star who seemed to have a great time in Malaysia recently was Taiwanese actor Xiu Jie Kai. The 41-year-old recently took a little trip around Melaka and shared some photos from his visit on social media. In his post, Xiu Jie Kai revealed that he went to tourist spots like the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum and Jonker Street and dined on some bak kut teh.

Given that it’s durian season in Malaysia, Xiu Jie Kai also said he looked forward to finding durian stalls while walking around the area but lamented that he couldn’t find any. According to reports, the actor is currently in Melaka to film for the upcoming Singaporean series, “The Little Nyonya II: Emerald Hill (小娘惹之翡翠山)”, so it seems his trip to the heritage museum could be as homework before he starts filming.

While it may be surprising to see so many international stars suddenly appearing in Malaysia, it’s fun seeing their little adventures in our country. We hope that Simon, Xiu Jie Kai and all the stars who found themselves here will have a great time in Malaysia.
