Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced RM100 each to some 10 million adult Malaysians, to be credited to their e-wallets.

He said the money would go to those earning an annual income of RM100,000 and below, comprising those in the B40 and M40 categories.

“The funds for this facility will reach about RM1 billion,” he said at the launch of “Madani Economy: Empowering the People” at the Securities Commission today.

Last month, the government began distributing RM200 in the form of e-cash credit under the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah programme, involving some two million youths aged 18 to 20 with a total allocation of RM400 million.

Anwar said the announcement today was after taking into account the success of the e-cash programme.
