The two suspects have been placed under remand.
BACHOK: Two Myanmar nationals have been arrested by the police on Wednesday night at a bus station in Selising, Pasir Puteh, for allegedly kidnapping a 10-year-old girl from her home in Kampung Pengkalan Cina.
Utusan Malaysia reported that the male suspects, aged 17 and 28, were arrested at 9pm.
Bachok district police chief Ismail Jamaludin said investigations found that the father of the child left her and her younger sibling, aged eight, at home at about 7.30pm on Tuesday to visit a clinic.
Ismail said the father found the victim missing when he returned home, with the younger sibling left alone.
“The victim’s sibling said two Myanmar nationals had taken the victim. The victim’s father then filed a report at the Bachok police station about 8.58am on Wednesday.
“The police then raided the suspects’ house, apart from carrying out Ops Tutup at the border in the Bachok district and Pasir Puteh,” he said in a statement.
Ismail added that the victim was taken for physical examination at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II), and no physical injuries were found.
He also said that based on investigations, the victim admitted to following the suspects willingly, as she claimed that the 17-year-old suspect, a labourer, was her lover.
“The 17-year-old has been put into the lock-up at the Bachok police station for four days while the other suspect, who works as a shop assistant, has been remanded for five days starting today,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 363 of the Penal Code.
