The 2025 model year BMW 3 Series was introduced in Malaysia just last week, and today we bring you a gallery of the updated compact executive sedan. This is technically the second Life Cycle Impulse (LCI II) that Munich has given to the G20 model, coming just two years after the more comprehensive facelift.

Shown here is the 330i, the popular mid-spec variant sandwiched between the 320i and the long-wheelbase 330Li. All 3 Series models are RM6,000 more expensive as part of this update, pushing this car’s price up to RM308,800 on-the-road without insurance. This is with the standard two-year warranty; add the five-year warranty and service package and this figure jumps to RM335,200.

The LCI II update is fairly modest, leaving the exterior well alone. All cooking 3 Series models (read: non-M340i) get the same design details, coming with the M Sport package, full-LED headlights and 18-inch double-spoke Style 848 M alloy wheels. The only new bit is the Arctic Race Blue metallic paint option seen in some of these images; the also-new Fire Red metallic is exclusive to the M340i.

You’ll have to step inside to notice the changes, the most obvious of which being the new flat-bottomed steering wheel – until recently BMW has stuck with a fully-round steering wheel, even on full-fat M cars. This reshaped ‘wheel with a trellis-style bottom spoke comes with a 12 o’clock marker but remains fully black – the red marker is another cue reserved for the M340i.

The curved display panel introduced on the first LCI remains, incorporating a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. However, these now run on the latest BMW Operating System 8.5, featuring QuickSelect shortcuts on the main screen, augmented reality features for the park assist and improved speech recognition for the Intelligent Personal Assistant voice control.

Elsewhere, there are new geometric air-con vents with hidden directional fins, joystick-like controls and a prominent central spar; the central vents also gain a “cascade” ambient light bar. These changes mirror those added to the facelifted 4 Series and i4. Last but not least is a finer grain on the soft-touch dashboard and door cards, improving perceived quality.

Otherwise, the equipment list is the same as before, the 330i coming with keyless entry with proximity locking/unlocking, push-button start, a head-up display, triple-zone climate control, power-adjustable front sports seats with driver’s side memory, ambient lighting, Vernasca leather upholstery, a Qi wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a ten-speaker, 205-watt HiFi sound system and a reverse camera.

Safety-wise, all 3 Series models soldier on with the Driving Assistant package, featuring autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring with collision prevention and automatic high beam. You still don’t get Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features such as adaptive cruise control or lane centring assist, which is frankly criminal in this segment.

The engine options also remain identical, so the 330i is still powered by a B48 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that churns out 258 PS from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 1,550 to 4,400 rpm. It’s paired to the usual ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, getting the car from zero to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 250 km/h.
