5 Fun Facts About KL’s Upcoming 118 Mall

Apart from being the tallest building in Malaysia, the Merdeka 118 has gone viral for numerous reasons. Once, a Russian daredevil couple claimed to have climbed to the top of the tower and even showed behind the scenes of how they did it. Another content creator accidentally crashed his drone into the skyscraper when he lost connection with his tiny aircraft.

The Merdeka 118 is currently in its final stages of development and will be opened to the public sometime in 2024 and that includes the opening of the 118 Mall as well! Here are some of the things that Malaysians can look forward to once the mall opens its doors:

According to the official website, the Dome of the 118 Mall is set to be the biggest shopping mall dome in Malaysia, offering a stunning architectural statement and a marvellous backdrop for photo opportunities. One of the most exciting attractions to look forward to is the Raincloud, a dramatic multi-storey water feature with an interactive screen offering customised messages for shoppers’ engagement.

A mall wouldn’t be complete without some of the best dishes in the world! Apart from your usual breakfast, lunch and dinner eateries, the 118 Mall will also include local and international restaurants that offer all-day dining and after-hours hangout spots; perfect for the weekends and public holidays.

Indoor Forest & Public Park

Similar to what The Exchange TRX is currently offering to visitors, it is said that there will be an outdoor public park or garden with beautiful water attractions for children. The park cascades from the Merdeka 118 tower right down in front of Stadium Merdeka and will replace the gravel parking spot at one of the entrances to the stadium. Under the glass dome of the mall, it is understood that there will be an ‘indoor forest’.

Accessible by MRT and Monorail

The 118 Mall will be directly connected to the Merdeka MRT Station and Maharajalela Monorail. It is also supposedly within walking distance from Pasar Seni MRT/LRT stations. This is extremely convenient for shoppers who would rather commute by train than drive to the mall. A roofed pedestrian path will be provided from the Merdeka 118 precinct to the Hang Tuah LRT/Monorail, which connects directly to Lalaport.

Luxury Brands

This goes without saying that 118 Mall will probably be offering the best and most well-known luxury brands from all over the world, competing against other luxury malls such as the latest The Exchange TRX and the iconic Suria KLCC.

Which mall will come up on top next year? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
