COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 5,501 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,614,480.
The national R-naught has stayed at 0.99 despite a small increase in cases yesterday, indicating that new infections are slowing down.
The number of states and territories with an R-naught above 1.00 has decreased from 11 to 9, namely Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Labuan, Putrajaya, Kedah, Pahang, and Perak.
An R-naught of more than 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 was accelerating.
Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 3.2 percent compared to the preceding week.
However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in and Penang (+17.6 percent) during the same period.
Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today’s breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.
