PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has retained Jepak in the by-election for the Sarawak state seat.
According to unofficial results, GPS’s Iskandar Turkee will serve as the new Jepak assemblyman after he gained an unassailable lead in the votes counted so far.
The contest for the seat was a three-way race between Iskandar, Aspirasi’s Chieng Lea Phing and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s Stevenson Joseph Sumbang.
The Jepak by-election was called following the death of its six-term assemblyman, Talib Zulpilip, on Sept 15.
