From CLC To Cherry Bullet: 6 Popular K-pop Groups That Disbanded From 2023-2024

In the captivating world of K-pop, where dreams are woven into melodies and stages shimmer with promise, the bittersweet reality of group disbandments will always serve as a shadow over the glittering facade. Over the years, we have seen rising stars at the peak of their fame only to bid this industry goodbye not long after.

Here are some of the K-pop groups who have disbanded quite recently from 2023 to 2024 due to various reasons. From heartfelt ballads to past electrifying performances that defined an era, this is a remembrance to celebrate the impact of these disbanded K-pop groups. 

1. Cherry Bullet (체리블렛)

  • Group Members: Haeyoon (해윤), Yuju (유주), Bora (보라), Jiwon (지원), Remi (레미), Chaerin (채린), and May (메이). 
  • Year debuted: 21st January 2019 with the single album “Let’s Play Cherry Bullet”
  • Agency’s name: FNC Entertainment.
  • Year disbanded: 22nd April 2024.
  • Why did they disband: In a statement released by the group’s agency, it was announced that Heyoon, Jiwon, Remi and May have decided to terminate the contract, while Yuju, Bora, and Chaerin will pursue individual activities with FNC Entertainment.
  • Update on current members: Yuju, Bora, and Chaerin will continue with FNC Entertainment while the rest are leaving.

2. MOMOLAND (모모랜드)

  • Group members: Hyebin (혜빈), Yeonwoo (연우), Jane (제인), Nayun (나윤), JooE (주이), Daisy (데이지), Taeha (태하), Ahin (아인) and Nancy (낸시)
  • Year debuted: 9th November 2016
  • Agency’s name: MLD Entertainment
  • Day of Disbandment: 14th February 2023
  • Reasons for disbanding: The members themselves agreed not to renew their contracts upon termination.
  • Update on current members: Yeonwoo and Nayun got into acting; Nancy is now a celebrity influencer, while JooE has been joining reality & competition shows. As for Jane and Hyebin, they do have fan-meetings in Japan but not many details on it.

3. D1CE (디원스)

  • Group members: Yonggeun (용근), Hyunsoo (현수), Yoojun (유준), Woodam (우담), and Jinyoung (진영)
  • Year debuted: 1st August 2019
  • Agency’s name: D1CE Entertainment, a Happyface Entertainment subsidiary
  • Day of Disbandment: 20th January 2023
  • Reasons for disbanding: Starting from March 2022, all members of D1CE were inactive after enlisting in the military, except for the youngest member Jinyoung, hence, they disbanded with the expiration of their contracts.
  • Update on current members: Everyone is in the military except Jinyoung.

4. CLC (씨엘씨)

  • Group members: Seunghee (승희), Yujin (유진), Eunbin (은빈), Sorn (손)(สร), Elkie (엘키)(莊錠欣), Seungyeon (승연), and Yeeun (예은)
  • Year debuted: 19th March 2015
  • Agency’s name: Cube Entertainment. 
  • Day of Disbandment: 20th May 2022
  • Reasons for disbanding: They went on a 1.5-year hiatus
  • Update on current members: All members are focusing on their own things. Sorn and Seungyeon debuted as solo artists and are signed under WILD Entertainment. Yeeun is under SuperBell Company. The rest officially left the agency.

5. GWSN (Gongwon Sonyeo; 공원소녀)

  • Group members: Seoryoung (서령), Miya (미야), Seokyoung (서경), Anne (앤), Minju (민주), SoSo (소소), and Lena (레나). 
  • Year debuted: 5th September 2018
  • Agency’s name: Kiwi Media Group, later known as The Wave Music
  • Day of Disbandment: June 2023
  • Reasons for disbanding: They won their trial to terminate their contract with their agency by the Seoul Central District Court due to the neglect from their agency.
  • Update on current members: Currently there’s no news about them. However, Miya wants to try acting or modelling in the future.

6. Kep1er (케플러)

  • Group members: Yujin (최유진) , Xiaoting (션샤오팅), Mashiro (사카모토), Chaehyun (김채현), Dayeon (김다연), Hikaru (에자키 히카루), Huening Bahiyyih (휴닝바히에), Youngeun (서영은), Yeseo (강예서).
  • Year debuted: 3rd January 2022
  • Agency’s name: WAKEONE Entertainment & SWING Entertainment
  • Day of Disbandment: 3rd July, 2024
  • Reasons for disbanding: All members failed to reached an agreement during contract negotiations and refuse to extend their contracts.
  • Update on current members: The group are preparing to release a new album before going back to their respective agencies that they were under before debut.
