Working in retail can be challenging, but thankfully some establishments offer generous salaries and employee benefits. However, high salaries are not always a dealbreaker, as there are both pros and cons to these types of jobs. That said, a high salary still attracts potential candidates to apply.
A couple of years ago, many were surprised by the RM2,400 basic salary at the then-newly opened UNIQLO outlet in Fahrenheit Bukit Bintang. The original post was taken down for some reason, but not before it attracted many netizens interested in the job. Fast forward to this year, and the popular clothing store has gone viral once more, this time due to its increased basic salary.

Over the weekend, a netizen known as @/xhaiex posted a UNIQLO job advertisement for the Fahrenheit Bukit Bintang branch. According to the poster, the brand is currently hiring for the position of Retail Associate. Previously, this full-time position offered a basic salary of RM2,400, but it has now increased to RM3,000, plus a RM150 allowance.
As for the Job Requirements, the details are as follows:
- Open to Diploma graduates and above
- Proficient in English
- Customer-first mindset
- Polite, Respectful, and Punctual
- Strong empathy to UNIQLO & Lifewear
- Flexible to work on shift: Weekends and Public Holidays

The post has since gone viral, with netizens expressing their disbelief at the increased salary for a position that was typically offered to Retail Supervisors. Some showed interest in applying, while others reminisced about their experiences working at UNIQLO. Additionally, some reminded potential candidates to be aware of the possible challenges, including long hours on weekends and public holidays. A few pointed out that the fashion brand has upgraded its requirements from SPM graduates to Diploma graduates.
Even Degree holders don’t get offered the same salary in most jobs so it’s no wonder why the advertisement quickly gained attention. If you have experience in retail and think you’re the right fit, now’s your chance to apply for the job.
