PETALING JAYA: The Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Hamid Bador, said today that no witnesses have yet been identified who saw the attack on fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim two years ago.

Abdul Hamid said all the evidence obtained so far amounted to hearsay and opinion. However, efforts to identify the perpetrator of the crime are still continuing, he said in a statement this evening to provide an update on police action so far.

Muhammad Adib died of his injuries after being attacked while on duty at a riot in Subang Jaya in 2018. A coroner’s inquest has held that Adib died after being assaulted by at least two people during the temple riot.

Hamid said: “Some issues need to be investigated further following the inquest verdict that Adib was beaten and attacked by 2 or more people. The investigation team is still investigating the matter to find a real suspect or any clues that will lead to the arrest.”
