Over the weekend, the local entertainment industry went abuzz after Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz got caught committing khalwat (being in close proximity) with Malaysian actress Ruhainies in a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur. The case brought in tons of criticism for Aliff, who is married to actress Bella Astillah.
According to the initial report from Harian Metro, officials from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) arrested the two after receiving tips from an unknown source. The situation escalated when JAWI officers called in the Fire and Rescue Department after the pair refused to open the door, leading to a three-hour standoff.
Following their release, Aliff and Ruhainies took to Instagram to apologise and address the issue. Through Instagram Stories, the 33-year-old actor expressed his regret for the ordeal. However, he said media reports were exaggerated, causing doubts and misunderstandings. He added that he would soon release a statement to clarify what happened, hoping it would cease the speculations.
Actress Ruhainies also broke her silence on the incident through her Instagram Stories. The 31-year-old actress also apologised for the incident but explained that there is much misinformation in reports of the situation. She also asked the public to stop speculating, adding that she will clarify the issue soon.
Meanwhile, Aliff’s wife, Bella Astillah, has remained quiet since the news broke out but has released tons of support from netizens and fellow celebrities alike. Many also expressed concern for her wellbeing, given that this isn’t the first case of her husband cheating. Bella once filed for divorce from Aliff in 2019 due to his repeated infidelity but managed to patch things up and now have two children together. It is also known amongst fans that Ruhainies is a close friend of Bella, adding to netizens’ criticism towards the actress.
