Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman takes over the position in The NSTP effective immediately.
PETALING JAYA: The New Straits Times Press Bhd (NSTP) has appointed Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman as the group managing editor, effective immediately.
Zaini, 59, will also serve as group editor of Berita Harian, Media Prima Bhd announced in a statement.
He takes over the position from Mustapha Kamil Janor, who retired at the end of 2022.
Zaini was a journalist with national news agency Bernama in 1984 before joining Berita Harian seven years later.
He was then promoted to various positions in the Malay daily, from Kedah bureau chief, news editor, chief news editor, and executive editor for commercial and current affairs.
Media Prima group managing director Rafiq Razali said Zaini would continue to lead the Berita Harian and Harian Metro editorial teams, in addition to the New Straits Times.
“We are confident that there will be a seamless progression as Ahmad Zaini has been with the group for many years and is actively involved in the business transformation efforts at NSTP,” he said.
