ASUS has announced new entries into the ROG Slash series of bags, officially known as the ROG Slash 4.0 bags. This includes a Sling Bag, a Sleeve Bag and a Backpack, all sporting the sub-brand’s aggressive gamer aesthetic. All of them are already available for purchase, though one can argue that two of them are priced pretty peculiarly.
Starting off with the smallest item in the range, the ROG Slash Sling Bag is something like an in-between in size between a fanny pack and a messenger bag. It’s probably best used as a carrying case for a handheld gaming PC, like its own ROG Ally X. The inside has soft inner lining for cushioning, and the outside’s got tear and water resistance to make sure whatever you’re carrying in it stays safe. It has an asking price of RM359.
And that, depending on your perspective, can raise some eyebrows when compared to the ROG Slash Sleeve Bag. To be fair, it looks to be no more than a laptop sleeve at first glance. What’s not so immediately obvious is that it can take laptops of up to 16 inches, but more importantly, it has a three-point strap when converted into a messenger bag. This is oddly uncommon in bags of today for whatever reason, but it’s immensely helpful in reducing strain on your shoulders when you need to carry your laptop around for day-long conventions for instance. Either way, this one costs RM329.
Finally, there’s the ROG Slash Backpack, the largest and obviously the priciest of them all at RM629. With a rated capacity of 26l, the company says you can fit an 18-inch laptop in there. It has a roll-top design, but there is a zipper for when you need quick access to the main compartment, as well as a number of hidden pockets to store smaller, more valuable items.
