ASUS ROG Ally Officially Get AFMF Support

0

ASUS recently announced that it is finally bringing AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) support to the ROG Ally, giving users another option for Frame Generation in-game.

The announcement was made earlier this week on a post in X, formerly Twitter. “We’re excited to announce that @AMD Fluid Motion Frames is going to be available on the #ROGAlly!”

For those wondering what is the difference between AFMF and FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3), the latter usually rests on the game’s developer to implement it. With the former, it isn’t mandatory and can work without or without FSR3 present, meaning that you can just activate Frame Generation as and when you choose.

Ideally, AMD has recommended that AFMF be enabled on games that already run at 60 fps or higher. On the ROG Ally, the new update should allow you to lock the FPS to 60 fps, and use the upscaling technology to double the framerate, where and when possible. The idea here is that by allowing AFMF to do this, it should technically allow the console to preserve battery life, which we found to be quite appalling with the gaming handheld.
